Alexandra Edmiston (Alix), ABC
Passion, creativity and commitment to the highest standards underscore the work at AE Public Relations. Alix launched her agency over 10 years ago to help business leaders enhance or protect their image through integrated public relations. Alix has a proven track record of working as a trusted advisor to corporate leaders at many of Canada's top corporations to increase their visibility and deepen relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
As a former journalist, accredited business communicator, published author, entrepreneur, and passionate follower of technological change, she brings a unique perspective to business communication. She also has a deep understanding of the PR industry, and the challenges and opportunities it's facing as the business world continues to become more connected and transparent. She's served as the volunteer President of IABC/Toronto, the largest chapter in the world's leading association representing strategic business communication professionals, where she was honoured with many awards in collaboration with her fellow volunteers. She's currently the past chair of IABC's Canada East Region and past trustee on the IABC Research Foundation.
A graduate of Ryerson’s specialized two-year journalism program for university graduates (JRAD), Alix also holds a degree in psychology from the University of Windsor and a self-employment development certificate from Centennial College’s Centre for Entrepreneurship. She's also an internationally Accredited Business Communicator, which means she's reached a globally accepted standard of knowledge and proficiency in her chosen field.
She’s the author of the book Confessions from the Cubicle – a primer for young women entering the work world - which was profiled on CBC Radio’s Later the Same Day, TVO and on the CTV morning shows in Toronto and Montreal. Her writing has also appeared in the Globe and Mail where she provided advice to corporate leaders, the Toronto Star, Marketing Magazine and CBC Radio. She enjoys sharing her insight on future PR trends with address industry audiences at conferences around Toronto.
